Challenge this! Swim 3,8km, bike 180km and run 42,2km through the flat and open landscape of Almere-Amsterdam during the Challenge Long Distance Triathlon. September 13th, 2025, it’s on. Did you know that, after Hawaii, Almere-Amsterdam is the oldest triathlon in the world, and you race entirely below sea-level?

Race Entry, Travel and Accommodation

Leonardo Hotel Almere City Center
Excellently located next the event village and race start on the esplanade in the beautiful Dutch town of Almere, the Leonardo Hotel Almere City Center is a great base for your stay.
The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the train station that connects Almere with the Capital Amsterdam and Schiphol international airport. You will find plenty of food and drink options close by. The De Bierfabriek restaurant & brewery next to the hotel specialises in farmhouse chicken and traditionally brewed Dutch beers. A bar is also available for guests to enjoy drinks in a relaxed setting.
The standard rooms we offer are designed with comfort in mind and are equipped with modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and coffee/tea making facilities.
Event Location
Almere is just 25km from the Dutch capital of Amsterdam, one of the most famous cities in Europe. Still surrounded by water, the course features the typical Dutch landscapes renowned the world over – dikes, windmills, tulip fields and endless straight, fast roads where the battle is between you and the elements.
Almere’s long history of triathlon includes hosting seven European Championships (1985, 1991, 1999, 2006, 2014, 2017, 2019) and two World Championships (2003 and 2008).
Getting There
We recommend you fly into Schiphol Airport, which has regular flights from all major international airport hubs. Transfers are not included on this tour. The easiest way to reach your hotel is via direct intercity train from Schiphol Airport to Almere Centrum. Once you arrive at Almere Centrum, it is a 15 minute walk to your hotel.
