Tri Travel named Official Travel Partner of GC50 Run Festival

Tri Travel are pleased to announce that we are the Official Travel Partner of the GC50 Run Festival. The rapidly growing GC50 Run Festival returns in 2019 bigger and better than ever in its 23-year history. With extra features added this year, including some events run on the famous Gold Coast sand, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

Tri Travel will be supporting the Gold Coast based event, in offering participants the opportunity to purchase discounted race entry and travel packages by working closely with local hotel groups.

Shane Smith, Managing Director of Tri Travel said that the partnership was a no-brainer and offers a win-win for all parties.

“Having delivered sports tours globally for over 20 years, Tri Travel have recently introduced several new running tours, to events like the New York City Marathon, London Marathon, Run Disney and the Queenstown International Marathon. As a Gold Coast based business, this was a great opportunity to showcase our new products to the Gold Coast running community,” said Smith.

Tri Travel kick-started its series of run tours in April this year, with a sell-out tour to the London Marathon. Later this year there is a choice between ‘City or Serenity’ with travel packages selling fast to both the NYC Marathon and the Queenstown International Marathon.

The partnership with the GC50 Run Festival is something with clear goals in mind. In consultation with GC50 Run Festival organisers, Tri Travel aim to increase interstate participation to the event by an additional 10% in 2019 – an area that grew by double in 2018 following a sell-out event.

Adam Goodger, Event Manager of the GC50 Run Festival was delighted to welcome Tri Travel to assist in this area.

“This year, we identified some clear goals with our interstate participation. Working closely with Tri Travel to offer affordable travel solutions for our participants will help us greatly in achieving just that.

This year will also see the introduction of the GC50 ‘State of Origin’ Competition whereby runners can nominate a state they wish to represent. To represent a state, participants can simply ‘opt in’ during registration and have their run time included in the average time for their chosen state. The state with the lowest average time for each distance will be crowned State of Origin champions for that particular distance.

“The State of Origin competition adds a layer of friendly rivalry to proceedings that we hope entices runners from other states to visit the Gold Coast and represent their state,” Goodger added.

Tri Travel Packages to the GC50 Run Festival will be available from early August.

To celebrate the partnership, Tri Travel will be running a competition to win an entry to the 2019 NYC Marathon. The competition will take place at the GC50 Run Festival stand at this year’s Gold Coast Marathon Sports and Leisure Expo, held between Thursday 4th July and Saturday 6th July.
